Print Overdue Notices FAQ
Overview
Beginning January 3rd, 2022, Bibliomation switched to a new print notification system for overdue notices. This document answers common questions about how the current system works.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
How do I access print overdue notices?
Notices are accessed via a URL provided to your library. If you need assistance with your URL or access, contact the help desk.
If you update your bookmarks or change computers, ensure you are using the correct URL for your library’s notices.
-
How is the schedule for generating notices determined?
Each library has a unique schedule for when overdue notices are generated. For example, the first overdue notice may generate 15 days after the due date, the second at 21 days, and an item may become lost and billed at 43 days after the due date.
Notices are generated a day later than in the previous system. This gives patrons a full day to return items before notices are created.
-
Who can help with changes to notice wording or timing?
Help desk staff can assist with changes to the wording and timing of print overdue notices.
-
Do I need my Evergreen credentials to access the notices?
Yes, Evergreen credentials are required to access print overdue notices.
-
What is the format of the notices?
Overdue notices generate daily as static PDF files. Notices will not drop off the list if an item is returned after the notice is generated.
It is recommended to run print notices daily, or as often as possible.
-
How does the system handle email addresses in patron records?
If a patron’s email field contains text that does not look like an email address (for example, it does not contain the @ symbol), a print notice will be generated for that patron.
-
Can a patron receive both an email and a print overdue notice?
By default, patrons with an email address receive email notifications only. Print notices are generated for patrons without a valid email address. However, notices can be configured so that a patron receives both an email and a print notice. Contact the help desk if you would like this enabled for any overdue notice.
-
Does this system affect email overdue notices?
There are no changes to the email overdue notice system.
-
What if my library does not use print notices?
If your library does not use print notices, please contact the help desk to opt out of the print notification system. You may opt in at any time.
